Oklahoma State University, McKnight Center for the Performing Arts
Stillwater, OK
Oklahoma State University has a Performing Arts Center that elevates the music and theatre programs at the university. The center is designed for traveling stage productions, opera, orchestra and musical student performances hosted or produced by the university’s Music Department.
Schuler Shook delivered theatre planning, programming and cost estimating services in the first phase of the project and collaborated with Beck Design to provide design for this new 77,583 SF performing arts center. Our design services included audience seating and sightlines, production and house lighting systems, stage rigging, variable acoustic curtain systems, orchestra pit lift, concert enclosure, back of house and technical space planning.
Schuler Shook provided architectural lighting design of the central chandelier and star field for the Main Auditorium. The chandelier fixtures serve two purposes by being a part of the house lighting system as well as being a showpiece of its own. We worked with the architect on the star field layout and the extensive system of catwalks that are used to service and maintain the fixtures.
