Other improvements include new architectural lighting in the hall and main lobby, new dimming and controls, new rigging and curtains, and a new orchestra pit platform system. Acoustic banners and curtains were added to allow the reverberation time to be adjusted for the different ensembles and programming.
Manhattan School of Music, Neidorff-Karpati Hall
Manhattan, NY
Neidorff-Karpati Hall is the largest venue on the Manhattan School of Music campus and heavily scheduled for many music ensembles, opera and musical theatre performances. The renovation included several changes to the auditorium including a larger proscenium opening, reduced balcony overhang, and a new entry vestibule.
Schuler Shook worked closely with the architects to reconfigure the main floor seating, adding tiers to improve sightlines, adjusting aisles, and providing appropriate wheelchair locations. Schuler Shook also designed a custom storage solution for new acoustic shell walls on the very small stage.
