Color-changing lights were used in the glass stair tower that can be seen when approaching the hospital, while color and fun trim rings were specified for the entrance lobby/play area to incorporate playfulness and cheer.
The University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children's Hospital
Chicago, IL
This 242,000 square-foot, 155-bed, seven-story facility provides an ultra-modern yet child-friendly setting for all inpatient children’s health services at the University of Chicago Hospitals.
The objective behind the lighting design was to create an inviting, comfortable, and functional environment within all public areas — the play area, book area, main lobby, elevator lobbies, stairwells, and the building’s exterior. The exterior lighting was intended to accent the architecture while providing a friendly welcome to incoming patients and visitors.
