Maple Grove Hospital
Maple Grove, MN
Balance and harmony flow through this hospital, highlighted with natural wood and stone elements. Strong visual connections to the outdoors are brought in, creating a healing environment to nurture mind, body and spirit. Abundant daylight fills the main concourse and entry stairway that connects with patient care areas.
The lighting design reinforces distinctive elements throughout the space. Linear lines of light at random intervals at the ceiling provide an asymmetric rhythm. The texture and warmth of stone and wood elements are highlighted with well-planned uplighting and wall washing.
The patient care corridor lighting design breaks away from usual solutions, replicating a natural light sensation. Widely spaced, large-scale fixtures used throughout the corridor suggest sunbeams streaming in from openings in the sky. Downlights with decorative elements provide visual cues at nurse stations and circulation nodes.
