The historic Saenger Theatre is an atmospheric venue, originally opened in 1927, providing New Orleans with many years of theatre, film, and music. Hurricane Katrina devastated the theatre in 2005, leaving the building damaged and idle until renovation talks were announced in 2009. In 2013, the Saenger opened its doors again, after a successful $53 million renovation that preserved its charm and updated the theatre’s capabilities.
Schuler Shook, involved in the post-Katrina study of theatres in New Orleans, provided Theatre Planning and Architectural Lighting Design services for this 2,600-seat venue.
