Flexibility, the dramatic use of light, uniqueness of design, visual comfort and enhancement of the architecture were the goals for the lighting team on this 29,000 SF office renovation. The client desired a highly flexible workplace with an easily reconfigurable office environment for agile software development teams.

Schuler Shook provided lighting design schemes for flexible work areas, enclosed meeting rooms, reception, pantries, restrooms and IDF closets.

Within the architecture, raw materiality and bold colors are balanced with clean lines and simple geometric forms. The lighting integrates with a variety of finishes in the space, becoming a part of the industrial aesthetic above workstations and public areas, and slipping seamlessly into finished ceilings over private meeting and collaboration areas.

Visually dramatic lighting effects are applied at key points in the floor plan to help create an enjoyable, energetic office environment. In the elevator lobby, thin luminous rings provide ambient light while expressing a bold ceiling graphic inspired by the exaggerated O’ in the company’s logo.

LED tubes continue above the expanded metal ceilings of the central boulevards to reinforce the layered architecture and provide soft illumination for casual seating below.

Conference room pavilions feature operable glass walls. Recessed linear fixtures extend out into the front porch’ zone. Recessed wallwash fixtures illuminate whiteboards on exterior walls.
