This realty company re-located to a 20,000 square-foot office space in a high-rise along the Chicago River. Schuler Shook designed the lighting for the new space, including the reception area, elevator lobby, open offices, executive offices, dining room, conference rooms, and corridors. The design team established a minimalist aesthetic which integrated lighting with the architecture, providing a focus on the client’s large collection of artwork.
Schuler Shook closely examined the sustainability of light sources used. Fixtures that typically use halogen lamps – such as dimmable downlights and artwork accent lights – instead utilize high color-rendering LED modules and ceramic metal halide lamps. Linear uplights in the corridor ceiling slot and elevator lobby utilize low-wattage LEDs to reduce energy consumption and minimize maintenance and re-lamping.
