Promotions, New Team Members

News – Feb 2020

We are happy to celebrate two promotions and introduce three new team members as part of the talented Schuler Shook family. Each one exemplifies the creativity and innovation that make us who we are.

John Jacobsen
Senior Lighting Designer

Recognized by Lighting Magazines 40 Under 40 global listing, John’s talent with light ranges from in-depth knowledge of energy codes to inventive theatre production lighting outside of the office. John’s new role as Senior Designer and Technical Coordinator allows him to impact a multitude of Schuler Shook’s projects with specific expertise in lighting controls, energy codes, sustainability, calculations and other technical issues. John balances his architectural lighting design with his continued design of production lighting for Chicago’s storefront theatre community and likes to unwind with his wife, cat, and two dogs.

John’s projects include Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts, Louisville, KY; Kiwanis Centennial Park, Birmingham, AL; Hyatt Global Headquarters, Chicago, IL; DePaul School of Music, Chicago, IL

Zachary Briscoe
Theatre Specialist

Zach joined us upon completing his MFA at Florida State University where he developed a passion for theatre planning. His Technical Production experience provides Zach with a wholistic view of the needs of performance spaces and support areas. Zach managed to be on his honeymoon in Maui in 2018 when everyone on the island received that erroneous inbound missile” alert on their phones.

Zach has been hard at work on projects including the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, Chickasha, OK; Stephen F. Austin University New Fine Arts Building, Nacogdoches, TX; and the University of North Texas Music Building, Denton, TX.
