Theatre planning and lighting design for a new 380-seat proscenium theatre with lobby, dressing rooms and scene shop connected to the existing school. The project includes a manual counterweight rigging system to support scenery, curtains, lighting, and acoustic shell ceiling panels above the stage. In addition to the flown ceiling panels, the portable acoustic shell towers provide a full enclosure around music ensembles, allowing the musicians to hear one another and the audience to fully appreciate a non-amplified concert.
Pillager Public Schools
Pillager, MN
The beautiful CTC Center is a true multi-purpose space, supporting choral and instrumental music performances, drama, musical theatre, assemblies, and meetings for all grade levels and for the Pillager community. Schuler Shook worked closely with the design team and school district to develop a flexible addition to the school.
Three catwalks above the auditorium allow safe access to a state of the art, color-changing LED lighting system for the stage. An enclosed lighting control room and open audio control platform provide students and visiting artists with a professional experience at a modest cost. A shallow orchestra pit at the front of the stage may be opened for musical theatre performances or covered with portable platforms to extend the stage apron.
