Montgomery Bell Academy Wellness Center

Schuler Shook provided theatre consulting and architectural lighting design services for the H. Frank Burkholder Wellness Center.
Designed with holistic wellness as the focus, the center provides spaces for sport, study, and play. The facility features a 1,200-seat Event Center, an indoor practice field, gyms, and fitness center as well as rooms for yoga, meditation, video screening, and meeting
Thoughtful lighting design is visible in the event center, indoor football practice field, gyms, squash courts, golf simulation area, and locker rooms. Exterior lighting scope includes the center’s facade and pedestrian pathways.
The Event Center is designed to flex for multiple uses from sports to performing arts. Motorized lighting trusses, backdrop curtains, and portable staging support the academy’s desired programming, including weekly full school assemblies and guest speakers. Schuler Shook further planned and provided infrastructure for more robust concert event lighting and rigging for future facility rental.
