The platform dimensions were increased to accommodate larger ensembles. A new catwalk provides more flexibility with the performance lighting and allows for easy maintenance of theatrical lighting fixtures. New architectural LED lighting accentuate the architectural features of the room.
Missouri State University, Ellis Hall
Springfield, MO
Originally built in 1959, the four-story building with a 250-seat recital hall serves as the music department’s home. By expanding into the existing basement space below the recital hall, the 2017 renovation increased the acoustic volume of the hall. The platform now sits at the lower level with the seating raked between the two levels. This layout improved the acoustics of the room and greatly enhanced the sightlines.
The original Casavant pipe organ is located in its same location, featured prominently behind the platform. New illumination has given the organ prominence in the hall, making it a stunning backdrop to any performance.
