Detroit School of Arts
Detroit, MI
The Detroit School of Arts is the city’s showcase for the teaching and performance of theatre, music, and broadcast communications. This $122 million project opened in 2005, adjacent to the Detroit Symphony Orchestra Hall, and serves grades 9 – 12 in general education and performance training.
The LEED Certified school offers many performance and production spaces, including a multi-purpose theatre, a flexible black box theatre, a recital hall, two television production studios, and a full complement of workshops and dressing rooms. Students spend their mornings in academic classes, and afternoons are filled with rehearsals, coachings, and production work.
