Spokane International Airport

The intent was to create comfortable spaces, similar to hospitality venues, by welcoming guests with warm illumination, comfortable furniture, and warm wood tones and finishes. Throughout the day, the lighting control system automatically controls the brightness and color temperature of the lighting to mimic the dynamic nature of natural light. In the daytime, cove and linear lighting is set to a cool ​“daylight” color temperature, with the brightness managed by daylight harvesting sensors. As the sun sets, the lighting slowly dims and warms to a soft evening setting. 

Decorative pendants and downlighting maintain a warm glow and sparkle throughout the day to help create a tranquil environment and refresh travelers. The lighting system works along side of an automatic shading system, which darkens the glass based on the amount of daylight. The project was designed with LEED standards and is expecting a LEED certification.
