Travis Shupe Promoted to Principal

Schuler Shook is pleased to announce the promotion of Travis Shupe, Design IALD, to Principal. Based in Schuler Shook’s Chicago office, Travis is a positive leader in the field of lighting design.

Travis joined Schuler Shook as a Lighting Specialist in 2021 and quickly applied his knowledge gained from over a decade working in theatre, TV broadcast, and the live events industry. In 2023, Travis was promoted to the role of Lighting Designer, taking on greater responsibilities as a collaborative team leader. His innovative approach to lighting design and his reassuring manner under deadlines are appreciated by project teams and industry partners alike. The intersection of art, physics, and technology is where Travis finds his passion for architectural lighting design.

In addition to leading multiple award-winning projects at Schuler Shook, Travis holds a Sports Emmy® Award in the Outstanding Technical Team Event category for his work on Super Bowl LV. Recent Schuler Shook projects include Mosaic at Three Embarcadero Center in San Francisco, CA, Educational Media Foundation in Franklin, TN, and Optiver in Chicago, IL.

When not designing lighting, Travis can be found behind the potter’s wheel in the ceramics studio, creating objects for everyday use or relaxing at home with his perfect dog named Chroma.
