Schuler Shook Announces New Principal

Firm News – Apr 2021

Schuler Shook is pleased to announce the promotion of Christopher Sprague, ASTC, to Principal. Based in Schuler Shook’s Chicago office, Christopher is a leader in the field of theatre consulting, a mentor to high school and university students in the performing arts, and an enthusiastic advocate for his clients.

Christopher joined Schuler Shook as a Theatre Consultant in 2006 and quickly applied his knowledge gained from a decade working in technical roles in theatre and opera in New York, Houston, Boston, and Milwaukee. He applied his keen grasp of detail and began leading our team through an ongoing and continuing review of our written specifications. His patient, consistent approach to theatre planning is appreciated by clients who note his loyalty to their projects from the earliest programming to opening night and beyond.

I have a heartfelt interest in working with owners, technicians, and end users to plan their new homes. One of the best moments for me is getting to be in the room as they see it come to life for the first time during training.”

Christopher Sprague, ASTC, Principal

Christopher enjoys mentoring high school youth in technical roles for the performing arts. He has mentored college theatre design teams in the annual USITT-ASTC Renovation Challenge and works regularly with his alma mater, Ohio Northern University, to connect alumni with current students of the School of Visual and Performing Arts. He is an active member of the American Society of Theatre Consultants.

His recent and current projects include Lyric Opera of Chicago Seating Replacement, Christ Presbyterian Academy, Imagine Clearwater, Cincinnati Ballet, and University of Michigan – New Dance Building.
