Julia Gordon, Senior Lighting Designer, joins Schuler Shook's Minneapolis Office

Firm News – Jul 2025

Schuler Shook is proud to announce the return of Julia Gordon to our Minneapolis office as a Senior Lighting Designer. With nearly 30 years of experience and a rich portfolio spanning airports, casinos, retail, financial institutions, houses of worship, theatres, residences, malls, and exterior architecture, Julia brings both vision and passion to every project.

Julia’s career in lighting design was sparked in high school through her involvement in live productions, leading her to earn a BFA in Theatrical Lighting Design from Emerson College. She joined Schuler Shook in 1997, spending two decades contributing to some of the firm’s most notable architectural lighting projects. Her work has earned numerous accolades, including awards from AIA, IALD, and IES at both local and national levels.

To broaden her professional experience, Julia spent nearly five years at a lighting representative agency, followed by a recent tenure as a Senior Lighting Designer at a prominent architectural lighting firm in Seattle. Her return to Schuler Shook marks a homecoming that reaffirms her dedication to innovative and thoughtful lighting design.

A respected leader in the industry, Julia is an active member of several professional organizations and recently achieved the prestigious Certified Lighting Designer (CLD) designation from the Certified Lighting Designer Commission.

Julia’s return reflects Schuler Shook’s ongoing commitment to design excellence and cultivating talent that shapes environments in meaningful and dynamic ways.

We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Julia back to Schuler Shook. Her creativity, technical expertise, and deep understanding of the design process enhance every team she’s part of. She brings light — literally and figuratively — to our work.”
