Schuler Shook Designers Share Lighting Knowledge with Columbia College Students
12 Apr 2012

Maureen Mahr, IALD, IES, LC, LEED AP, Senior Lighting Designer, and Miory Kanashiro, IES, LC, LEED AP, Lighting Designer recently led a presentation about the process of lighting design for a group of Interior Design students from Columbia College. The event was hosted at Schuler Shook’s Chicago office and is part of an ongoing relationship with the College.

“I’ve been doing a color and lighting presentation twice a year for the last five or so years for Columbia College, and it’s a great opportunity to expose students to the science and art of lighting design,” says Maureen. “Miory has been joining me lately, and that gives the students an additional perspective. We both try to focus on how human beings use and perceive color - white light and RGB light - and how lighting affects that perception. This is critical information for anyone in a design field.”

The presentation was a successful exchange of information, and Maureen and Miory look forward to continuing to share their knowledge with up-and-coming design students.
